WATERING WORDS

The Watering Words collective is based on the concept of hydrofeminism – the idea of connectivity and solidarity of various bodies of water.

Initiated as a project in early 2022, it functions as an experiment in the form of a longterm dialogue between three artists (Joanna Gruntkowska, Małgorzata Suś and myself) and various bodies of water in our surroundings (Poland, Portugal and Austria). The collective works through an ongoing exchange of weekly texts, written by each of us, that are then continued by one of the others – either in written, visual or any other form we choose to engage with the texts.

Since August 2022 Watering Words also contains bi-weekly online sessions, called Encounters, where collectively go through physical or somatic „tasks“ that were created in response to one of our texts or to a specific body of water, and then discuss our experience in the group.

The project was presented in a workshop format during the Land Art Moving Biennale 2023 and Klima Biennale Vienna 2024.
